نویسندگان

چکیده

Context: COVID-19 results in an imbalance between procoagulant and anticoagulant homeostatic mechanisms that could be complicated with thrombotic events. In β-thalassemia patients, the presence of comorbidities, iron overload, adrenal hypofunction, splenectomy, chronic hypercoagulable state might increase susceptibility to its severity. Evidence Acquisition: The search was conducted PubMed, Web Science, Scopus databases for key terms β-thalassemia/thalassemia until July 2021. Results: survey published observational studies (mostly multicenter case reports) indicated a lower prevalence patients compared general population, as well mild moderate these especially those without comorbidity. β-Thalassemia children were susceptible but less severity adults. There is no report pulmonary embolism events COVID-19; however, coagulation abnormality microembolism have been found patients. Conclusions: Findings interpreted by high hemoglobin F (HbF) levels, advantage hydroxyurea (HU) therapy, chelation therapy However, due low sample size studying mainly young should caution, it still needs more larger confirm findings.
